Caitlin Clark sets new NCAA scoring record
On Sunday, March 3rd Iowa guard Caitlin Clark broke the NCAA scoring record passing LSU legend Pete Maravich. Clark only needed 18 points to break the record as the Hawkeyes played Ohio State in a ranked matchup in front of a sold out crowd. Clark was able to break the record in the first half of the game but did so in a rather unpredictable way. Everyone across the nation expected Clark to break the record by shooting a magical shot and doing what she does best. However, after a few missed shots and a missed 3-pointer in her last shot attempt of the first half, it looked like the nation would have to wait for history to be made in the second half. Soon after, Iowa's Hannah Stuelke was fouled by Madison Greene, and then a technical foul was called on Ohio State’s Cotie McMahon. Stuelke made both of her free throws and Clark was up to the line next. After hitting both of the shots,Clark reached 18 points and made history. Clark finished the night with 35 points, 9 assists, and 6 rebounds and the Hawkeyes won the game 93-83. Clark has declared for the WNBA and is expected to be a first round pick getting drafted by the Indiana Fever.
